Almost 5 months ago I started working at Crispin Porter + Bogusky (advertising agency) as an Interactive Digital Artist. My first project was to work on the homepage design for windows.com which to me was a pretty big step since it was my first full time job. I ended up staying involved with the site design as it launched on 9/11 with Bill Gates and Jerry Seinfeld featured in a giant curved video frame. Since then I’ve been constantly designing new parts of the “life without walls campaign” including the I’M A PC website.
I was trying out some mint oreos when I discovered how easy they were to split up. It’s a little unnatural how well the frosting stuff detaches from the chocolate bit. So I took what was left of the package and put them all into one giant disgusting pile of green frosting.
If you find yourself in Manhattan and need a place to stay, get ready to spend a few hundred dollars a night for a basic hotel. If you don’t have that kind of spare change, you could sleep on a friend’s couch, floor, or front steps for free. Or you could stay in a (heaven forbid) hostel for less than what it would cost to get a cab to the airport.
The trouble with hostels is that they vary dramatically in quality. A lot of times people that rate hostels online haven’t stayed in mutliple ones throughout the city so they don’t know what to compare to. This results in ratings that don’t make any sense. Unfortunately for me, I had the opportunity to stay in 4 different hostels.

I was in the grimey area of Queens + Brooklyn last Saturday. It’s about the same it was 2 years ago, but is getting a little bit better. The subway system sucks though. Tracks are broken everywhere. If you decide to take the JMZ, make sure you ask around to find out what stops you can actually get to cause it’s highly possible you’ll have to transfer and add an extra 30 mins to your travel time.
I decided to add some of my fine art into the work section. You can also see some more of my fine art at my poolah page (poolah.com/kevin). I added in some more of my work as well so the work section now has more of my recent projects.
I’ve finally put together an official sample of my work that includes some of my motion and web. I kept it short and relatively recent. If you want to see more samples check out the work section. I haven’t posted any links up yet to my sites as I’m still deciding the best way to display that.
So tuesday I went to the Art Directors Club portfolio review in nyc which was hosted by TAXI NYC. There were around 200 students there selected by their schools to attend. SCAD flew four of us up for the show. It lasted 6 hours so we were all a bit exhausted by the end but probably not nearly as much as the reviewers. I met some interesting contacts but somehow managed to miss RG/A who was supposed to be there.
So i’m officially moving to NYC tomorrow (monday). I don’t know where i’m living or working, but i’ll figure something out.
Animation collective contacted me to work with them on a website for their upcoming show on Nick Toons called Daning Sushi. They were interested in a fully interactive site with lots of things to play with throughout. We’ve launched the initial version at www.dancingsushi.com and will be putting the fully interactive version online soon.
